|Indication||Conditions associated with the aging process in dogs such as lethargy, tiredness, apathy, stiff gait, difficulty standing up and walking, lack of appetite, wasting, alopecia, dull coat, when no specific cause of these conditions can be found. Vivitonin may help in slowing the development of hearing and sight defects associated with aging and also slow the development of cataracts in aged animals.|
|Contraindications||Use in pregnant or lactating bitches, as the compound has not yet been evaluated in these animals.|
|Actions||Vivitonin acts primarily by producing a marked improvement in the microcirculation and therefore by increasing the oxygen supply in the peripheral and cerebral areas. It may start to take effect after only a few days, depending on the clinical signs. The clinical signs can be expected to return once treatment has been discontinued.|
|Precautions||First Aid If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre. Phone Australia 131 126.Disposal Dispose of empty container by wrapping in paper and putting in garbage.|
|Dosage and Administration||Propentofylline 6 to 10 mg/kg daily, divided into two doses given morning and evening as follows.The tablet can be administered directly onto the back of the tongue or can be mixed with a small ball of food.Administer the tablet on an empty stomach at least 30 minutes before feeding. Continue treatment as required.Vivitonin 50. < 5 kg bodyweight. ¼ tablet morning and evening. 5 to 8 kg. ½ tablet morning and evening. 9 to 15 kg. 1 tablet morning and evening. 16 to 25 kg. 1½ tablets morning and evening. 26 to 33 kg. 2 tablets morning and evening. 34 to 50 kg. 3 tablets morning and evening.Vivitonin 100. 5 to 8 kg bodyweight. ¼ tablet morning and evening. 9 to 15 kg. ½ tablet morning and evening. 16 to 25 kg. ¾ tablet morning and evening. 26 to 33 kg. 1 tablet morning and evening. 34 to 50 kg. 1½ tablets morning and evening. 51 to 65 kg. 2 tablets morning and evening.For further detail on dosage, refer to literature with product or contact manufacturer.|
