|Drug Name and Strength||Triamcinolone acetonide 6 mg/mL|
|Indication||Inflammation in dermatological disorders and arthritic conditions.|
|Actions||Triamcinolone acetonide is an intermediate acting glucocorticoid corticosteroid, with a slow onset and long duration. It has five times the glucocorticoid potency of cortisone. The duration of action is variable, ranging from three to approximately six weeks. This variability is due to the type of problems, weather conditions and the extent of the disease being treated.|
|Precautions||Corticosteroids tend to decrease chemotactic properties of phagocytes and thus tend to decrease the efficacy of host defence mechanisms. Use such drugs with caution where severe tissue damage is present. Where an infective process is suspected, initiate concurrent antibacterial therapy.The administration of corticosteroids has, during the last trimester of pregnancy, been demonstrated to precipitate premature parturition.|
