|Drug Name and Strength||Oxytetracycline hydrochloride 100 g/kg|
|Indication||Diseases due to susceptible organisms in pigs, poultry and calves.|
|Actions||Broad spectrum tetracycline antibiotic which has antimicrobial activity against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, certain Rickettsiae, Chlamydia, Actinomycetes, Mycoplasma, protozoa and some of the larger viruses. Oxytetracycline acts by inhibition of the synthesis of protein in the ribosomes of the bacteria. Oxytetracycline crosses most biological barriers in the body.|
|Precautions||Disposal Dispose of empty container by wrapping with paper and putting in garbage.|
|Dosage and Administration||Poultry. Chronic respiratory disease (CRD), infectious coryza, infectious sinusitis, infectious synovitis, fowl cholera, bacterial enteritis (prevention and treatment). Medicate all drinking water with 1 kg/450 L for the first three days of life and for one day on the 28th day, or medicate all drinking water until 24 hours after symptoms have disappeared. Stress caused by rehousing, vaccination reaction, overcrowding. Medicate the drinking water with 1 kg/900 L for the period that the stress is current; aids in prevention of bacterial disease due to such stress factors.Pigs. Bacterial enteritis, piglet pneumonia, enzootic pneumonia, oedema disease (treatment). Medicate with 2.5 g (1 level measure)/10 kg bodyweight/day until 24 hours after symptoms have disappeared.Calves. Bacterial enteritis, salmonellosis, calf diphtheria, pasteurellosis, pneumonia (treatment). Medicate with 5 g (2 level measures)/50 kg bodyweight/day, until 24 hours after symptoms have disappeared.Oxymav 100 may be given in the drinking water, feed, or as a drench. When medicated drinking water is used, no other source of drinking water should be available, and a solution should be freshly prepared every 24 hours during treatment. 1 level measure (enclosed) holds 2.5 g of powder, which yields oxytetracycline hydrochloride 250 mg.|
|Storage||Store below 30°C (room temperature). Protect from light. Reseal tightly after use.|
