|Drug Name and Strength||Inactivated Bordetella bronchiseptica antigen, inactivated canine parainfluenza virus, aluminium hyroxide (as adjuvant)|
|Indication||Live intranasal vaccine to aid in protection against kennel cough disease caused by B. bronchiseptica and canine parainfluenza virus for at least 12 months following vaccination.|
|Actions||A low volume, live bivalent kennel cough vaccine designed for intranasal administration. A single application to dogs 4 weeks of age and older stimulates immunity as early as 72 hours after administration and provides protection for at least 12 months.|
|Precautions||Dogs should be at least 4 weeks of age. Only healthy dogs should be vaccinated. Nobivac KC contains live attenuated B. bronchiseptica; dogs on antibacterial therapy with activity against B. bronchiseptica are unlikely to respond to vaccination. Occasionally, particularly in very young susceptible puppies, signs of upper respiratory tract disease may be seen, including mild discharge from the eyes and nose, sneezing and coughing. Signs are generally transient, but in occasional cases may persist and in such cases, appropriate antibiotic treatment may be indicated.Disposal Discarded vials/containers should immediately be placed in a designated and appropriately labelled biologicals container. If this option is not available, bury the vial/container below 500 mm in a disposal pit specifically marked and set up for this purpose, clear of waterways, desirable vegetation and roots. Discarded needles should immediately be placed in a labelled sharps container.|
|Dosage and Administration||For intranasal administration only. Use within one hour of reconstitution. Reconstitute one vial of Nobivac KC vaccine with one vial of the diluent supplied (0.4 mL). Allow the reconstituted vaccine to reach room temperature, shake well to ensure proper mixing. Draw up 0.4 mL (one dose) of vaccine into a disposable sterile syringe. Connect the applicator supplied to the tip of the syringe. Fix the head of the dog in an upright position with the head tilted slightly back. Place the tip of the applicator in front of one nostril and carefully administer the whole contents of the syringe into this nostril only. Note the use of the applicator is optional. Recommended vaccination program. A single dose of Nobivac KC administered to dogs at least 4 weeks of age. An annual revaccination is recommended. Pregnant bitches may be vaccinated.|
