Prascend contains Pergolide, a synthetic ergot derivative that binds to dopamine receptors in the pituitary gland. This decreases the plasma levels of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) responsible for causing the clinical signs associated with pituitary dysfunction in horses. This is also known as equine Cushing’s disease; it is one of the most common endocrine disorders in horses. This can lead to the horse’s pituitary gland becoming overactive, leading to many problems including lethargy, decreased performance, delayed shedding of coat, muscle loss and recurrent infections.
Prascend is packed in protected foil blister packs. The tablets are single-scored which allows for easy dosing and to allow for dose adjustments.
There are improved clinical signs within 3 months and horses will continue to have improvement up to 6 months. Horses suffering from delayed hair shedding were improved in 89% of cases within 6 months.
Prascend is just a once a day dosing, making it easy to treat and maintain your horse’s condition.
