|Drug Name and Strength||flunixin as meglumine(50mg/mL)|
|Indication||Dogs. Pain associated with disc problems, arthritis, and parvovirus infection. Horses. Alleviation of inflammation and pain associated with musculoskeletal disorders, visceral pain and colic. Aids the normalisation of peristalsis. Cattle. Infectious respiratory conditions, and downer cow syndrome. Pigs. Mastitis–metritis–agalactia syndrome.|
|Contraindications||Administration to cats. Foals should not be treated during first 72 hours of life.|
|Actions||Flunixin inhibits cyclooxygenase, which results in blockage of prostaglandin biosynthesis. It is a potent nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agent with analgesic and antipyretic activity, and is non-narcotic.|
|Warnings||The effect in pregnant animals is unknown.|
|Precautions||Flunixin may be slightly irritating when administered intramuscularly to younger animals, or injected too superficially into older animals.Do not mix with other compounds in the syringe.Flunixin should not be injected into adipose tissue.Discontinue use at the first sign of adverse gastrointestinal symptoms.Disposal Dispose of empty container by wrapping in paper and putting in garbage.|
|Dosage and Administration||Dogs. Maximum 1.1 mg/kg bodyweight (0.2 mL/9 kg) intravenously, once daily for two to three days. Horses. 1.1 mg/kg bodyweight (1 mL/45 kg) intramuscularly or intravenously, once daily for up to five days. Cattle. 2.2 mg/kg bodyweight (2 mL/45 kg) intravenously, once daily for one to three days. Pigs. 2.2 mg/kg bodyweight (2 mL/45 kg) by deep (5 cm) intramuscular injection, once or twice daily at an interval of twelve hours.|
|Storage||Store below 30°C (room temperature).|
