|Indication||Immunisation of healthy dogs 6 weeks of age or older to protect against disease caused by canine distemper virus, canine adenovirus type 1, canine adenovirus type 2, canine parainfluenza virus and canine parvovirus. This vaccine provides cross-protection against CPV-2a, CPV-2b, and CPV-2c. This vaccine prevents viral shedding caused by canine parvovirus infection. Early protection of puppies with final vaccination from 10 weeks.|
|Precautions||Vaccinate only healthy dogs with normal temperatures. Dogs under treatment with immunosuppressive drugs should not be vaccinated. The use of this vaccine in pregnant bitches is not recommended.First Aid If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre. Phone Australia 131 126. Take care to avoid self-injection. In the event of self-administration, seek medical attention if you are concerned and show the package leaflet or the label to the medical practitioner.|
|Dosage and Administration||Recommended vaccination programs. In any population of dogs a very small proportion may fail to adequately respond to vaccination due to concurrent illness, stress, immunosuppression, genetic factors or the presence of maternal antibodies. The epidemiology of each disease, the likely persistence of maternal antibodies and the dog's history and environment should be considered when deciding on a suitable vaccination program for a particular animal. Reconstitute the freeze dried vaccine with sterile water for injection (1 mL), Protech C2i or Protech BB. Inject subcutaneously within 20 minutes of reconstitution. A new sterile syringe and needle should always be used to administer this vaccine. Do not use chemicals or disinfectants to sterilise the skin, needles or syringes.Primary vaccination programs. Puppies < 10 weeks of age. Vaccination of puppies with Duramune Adult C4 at 6, 8 and 10 weeks is highly recommended to maximise protection. Where puppies present for their first vaccination at 8 weeks of age, a second vaccination at 10 weeks is recommended. Vaccination according to these programs provides three years' protection against diseases caused by canine distemper virus, canine adenovirus types 1 and 2 and canine parvovirus. Puppies and dogs 10 weeks of age or older. One dose of Duramune Adult C4. In previously unvaccinated dogs of 10 weeks of age or older, a single dose of Duramune Adult C4 is sufficient to confer three years' protection against disease caused by canine distemper virus, canine adenovirus type 1, canine adenovirus type 2 and canine parvovirus. Two doses of this vaccine are required to provide protection against canine parainfluenza. To ensure optimal cover, it is highly recommended that a vaccination program be instituted at an earlier age as described above. Protech C2i may be used as a diluent for Duramune Adult C4. Two doses two to four weeks apart will protect against Leptospira interrogans serovar Copenhageni and canine coronavirus.Revaccination. Duramune Adult C4 has been demonstrated to provide three years' protection against disease caused by canine distemper virus, canine adenovirus type 1, canine adenovirus type 2 and canine parvovirus. The vaccine may therefore be included in programs of revaccination intervals of three years following the primary vaccination program. The vaccine may also be used for shorter revaccination intervals if desired. For instance, a common international practice is for dogs to receive their first revaccination at 12 months after the primary puppy vaccination and at three year intervals thereafter.Duramune Adult C4 has been shown to provide 12 months of protection against disease caused by canine parainfluenza virus. For protection against canine parainfluenza virus and Bordetella bronchiseptica, annual revaccination with Protech Bronchi-Shield III or Protech Bronchi-Shield Oral and Protech Pi2 is recommended. Annual revaccination against canine coronavirus and Leptospira interrogans serovar Copenhageni is recommended using Protech C2i vaccine.Suggested vaccination programs. 6 weeks. Duramune Adult C4 + Protech C2i. 8 weeks. Duramune Adult C4 + Protech C2i and Protech Bronchi-Shield Oral. 10 weeks. Duramune Adult C4. 14 months.* Protech Bronchi-Shield III and Protech C2i. 2 years. Protech Bronchi-Shield III and Protech C2i. 3 years. Duramune Adult C4 + Protech C2i and Protech Bronchi-Shield Oral. Continue annual and triennial protocols as listed above.*Optional vaccination with Duramune Adult C4 at 14 months of age (12 months following puppy vaccination) and at three year intervals thereafter. If Duramune Adult C4 is used at 14 months, replace Protech Bronchi-Shield III with Protech Bronchi-Shield Oral.|
