|Drug Name and Strength||Amoxycillin as trihydrate(140mg/mL) + others|
|Indication||Infections including skin and soft tissue diseases (e.g. abscesses, pyoderma, anal sacculitis and gingivitis), urinary tract infections, respiratory tract infections, septicaemia and postparturient infections in dogs and cats.|
|Contraindications||Administration to small herbivores, e.g. rabbits or guinea pigs. History of allergic reaction to penicillins.|
|Actions||Resistance to many antibiotics is caused by β-lactamase enzymes which destroy the antibiotic before it can act on the bacteria. The clavulanate counteracts this defence mechanism by inactivating the β-lactamases, thus rendering the organisms sensitive to amoxycillin's rapid bactericidal effect at concentrations readily attainable in the body. In vitro, Clavulox is active against a wide range of clinically important bacteria, including Gram-positive: Staphylococci (including β-lactamase producing strains), Corynebacteria, Streptococci; Gram-negative: Escherichia coli (including β-lactamase producing strains), Bordetella bronchiseptica, Proteus mirabilis, Salmonella sp. (including β-lactamase producing strains), Pasteurella and Klebsiella.Clavulox is not indicated for cases involving Pseudomonas sp.|
|Warnings||Use only in a dry syringe and needle. Use of this product may occasionally result in local tissue reactions.|
