|Actions||Chorionic gonadotrophin is a complex glycoprotein capable of supplementing and being substituted for the luteinising hormone secreted by the anterior pituitary gland in both the male and female. In the female, Chorulon promotes maturation of the follicle, ovulation and the formation of the corpus luteum. In the male, it stimulates the production of testosterone and thus influences the development and maintenance of primary and secondary male sex characteristics.|
|Precautions||In rare cases, as with all protein preparations, anaphylactoid incidents may occur shortly after injection. Adrenaline injection (1:1,000) given intravenously or intramuscularly when symptoms appear is the standard treatment. The administration of a corticosteroid may also be indicated.Disposal Dispose of empty containers or outer packaging by wrapping with paper and putting in garbage.|
|Dosage and Administration||Anoestrus is often caused by inadequate management (feeding and housing). Therefore improvement of management is a prerequisite for successful treatment. The product does not contain preservative. Following reconstitution it is recommended to use preparation immediately and discard any unused portion.Cows, heifers. Improvement of conception rate. 1500 IU IM or SC at AI. Cystic ovary syndrome anoestrus, prolonged oestrus and/or nymphomania due to cystic follicle degeneration. 3000 IU IV. Anoestrus (silent heat with small follicles). 1500 to 3000 IU IM or SC.Mares. Anoestrus (follicles ≥ 2 cm diameter). 1500 to 3000 IU IM, IV or SC. Induction of ovulation to improve conception rate. 1500 to 5000 IU at AI or mating.Bitches. Anoestrus. After pretreatment with PMSG (Folligon), 500 IU IM or IV at first day of oestrus. Delayed ovulation, prolonged oestrus. 100 to 500 IU IM, repeat treatment until vaginal discharge disappears.Male dogs. Cryptorchidism. 100 to 500 IU IM twice weekly, up to six weeks. Deficiency in libido. 100 to 500 IU IM, 6 to 12 hours before mating.Fish. Breeding. Refer to product leaflet.|
