|Drug Name and Strength||Oxytetracycline 100mg/ml|
|Indication||Infections due to susceptible organisms in cattle, sheep and pigs.|
|Contraindications||Administration to animals with renal or hepatic damage. Administration to dogs and cats. Administration to pregnant animals.|
|Actions||Antibiotic active against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogenic bacteria, certain Rickettsia, Chlamydia, Actinomycetes, Mycoplasma and protozoa. Provides serum concentrations effective against susceptible organisms for 24 hours following a single injection.|
|Precautions||Avoid dilution with solutions of calcium salts.|
|Dosage and Administration||Give by intramuscular or slow intravenous injection. Cattle. 4 mg/kg (2 mL/50 kg bodyweight) daily for 3 to 5 days. Sheep, pigs. 4 to 9 mg/kg (2 to 4.5 mL/50 kg bodyweight) daily for 3 to 5 days.Inject volumes greater than 20 mL into different sites.|
|Storage||Store below 25°C (air conditioning). Protect from light. Following withdrawal of the first dose, the vial content should be used within 14 days.|
