IndicationTreatment and control of susceptible tapeworms and roundworms (including arterial larval stages of Strongyloides vulgaris and benzimidazole resistant small strongyles), bots and skin lesions caused by Habronema sp. and Draschia sp. (summer sores), and Onchocerca sp. microfilaria (cutaneous onchocerciasis) in horses. Treatment and control of tapeworms (Anoplocephala perfoliata, A. magna and Paranoplocephala mammillana adult and immature, heads and segments), large strongyles (Strongylus vulgaris adults and arterial larval stages, S. edentatus adults and tissue stages and S. equinus adults), Triodontophorus sp. Dosage and AdministrationEquimax is given orally at the recommended dose rate of 1 mL/20 kg bodyweight. One syringe will treat a 700 kg horse. It is recommended that horses be wormed every six to eight weeks or as recommended by a veterinarian. Suggested parasite control program. All horses should be included in a regular parasite control program with particular attention being paid to mares, foals and yearlings. Foals should be treated initially at 6 to 8 weeks of age, and routine treatment repeated as appropriate. Regular treatment will reduce the chances of verminous arteritis and colic caused by S. vulgaris. It is recommended that horses be wormed every six to eight weeks or as recommended by a veterinarian.
